What a great restaurant-so good in fact we are afraid that as it is discovered we won't be able to get in. The specials and the menu dishes are super and the "Parmesan Crusted Grouper" is the best I have ever had from Destin to Appalachicola. BUT the absolute best seafood dish ever was a hook and cook dish the chef did for me (hook and cook is when you bring your own dressed fish in that you caught). She grilled my Pompano with herbs and spices topped off with about a half pound of crab meat and further topped with a fried green tomato seasoned from heaven. They took a photo of the dish to post on Face-book. Believe you do not need a fresh Pompano to enjoy The Blue Moon Cafe. Thanks to the Chef. Doug Lurie

Last night, some of my friends and I went to downtown Dothan to have some Cajun food. I love Cajun food and only heard about Blue Moon a few days ago. So, I was very excited to try several things on the menu.
Menu: The menu had several Cajun dishes on it and many of them were nice and spicy. The downfall to the menu is that they only have canned sodas and they are priced at more than $1 per can. Additionally, there are some items that one would think should always be available, such as, red beans and rice; however, they are only available on Mondays.
Service: The service was horrific. The service is why this place was an absolute nightmare. We were seated for 1 hour and 45 minutes before we got our refill. It was still another 45 minutes before the foot arrived, 2 hrs 30 mins total waiting for our food to arrive.
At one point, my son knocked over a glass of water. When asking for some napkins or something so that we could clean it up, the waitress was walking away and would barely look at us.
After finally receiving our entrees about 2 hrs 30 mins after ordering, we were still missing our side salads and bread. Both of which were served after our entrees. I asked the waitress if we were supposed to get bread with the food to cut the spice. Her response, "Oh, did you ask for bread?" My response, "It says on the menu that it comes with the Friday evening dinners."
When we asked for our check, the waitress had to come back to the table and ask every single person what they had for dinner before she could even total the checks. This took another 15-20 minutes.
Finally, after arriving at 6:20, we were able to leave that horrible restaurant at 9:50.
Food: The food has a good taste and it was nice and spicy. However, it took so long for it to come out that it was room temperature.
Ultimately, I would never go back again, nor would I recommend anyone else go back. It is a shame because it is a local restauraunt with good food. However, my experience there was unbearable.
